Excitement is building with each passing day for everyone who has planned the many events for the Titusville Oil 150 Celebration.
Appreciation goes out for the many donations received by businesses and the private sector. This grand party could not be planned and carried out if it were not for the generosity of those contributors.
This Sunday begins a week of Oil 150 festivities, including:
The 44th Antique Car Show, which will be held at Drake Well Park, rain or shine. Registration at this time shows 150 antiques and classics, with 15 judged classics. All cars must be registered by 1 p.m. The event is open to the public to view the A.A.C.A. Judged Pennsylvania Oil Region A.A.C.A. Show. Food will be available on the grounds. Door prizes and a 50/50 will also be featured. For further information, call Bill Gratkowski at 827-1782, during the evenings.
Also on Sunday, Scheide Park will come alive with its first-ever family picnic, including a musical. “Oil Fever!” is a light musical romp through oil history, performed by the Titusville High School Drama Club. The musical begins at 1 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic basket and enjoy an afternoon in the park.
On Monday, Titusville Oil 150 will be featured at Titusville Day at the Crawford County Fair. A booth will be in front of the fair office manned by volunteers of Titusville's Take Pride in Titusville and chamber office staff. The booth will have several door prizes and many give aways.
Home Show building #5 will feature Drake Well pumps, oil tools and more.
The Titusville Historical Society will have many items on display. The building will showcase Drake Well and Titusville for the week.
On Wednesday, the local blacksmiths will give a demonstration in front of the building. Titusville Day at the fair is the brainchild of local fair director Ron Kerr, and the day has been quite successful. The day is sponsored by many businesses, clubs and individuals.
Travel to Meadville to spend the day, and return to Titusville in time for a concert in the park on Monday evening.
The concert in Scheide Park runs from 7 to 9 p.m., featuring the “4-J's” from Erie. They have made several appearances in Titusville for the annual Catholic Community of Titusville Festival and the American Legion. They are top show men with a doo wop sound. This concert is part of the Broadhurst Family/Eat'n Park Music Festival for Titusville Oil 150 week.
Tuesday will feature music of “5th Wheel,” a very popular local band. The concert will be at the gazebo in Scheide Park from 7 to 9. A special concert by “Shania Twin Tribute Act” will be held at University of Pittsburgh at Titusville's Henne Auditorium at 8 p.m.
On Wednesday, an acoustic night will be held at the gazebo featuring “Acoustic Gypsys.” The event will run from 7 to 9.
Looking for souvenir gifts? The Titusville Oil 150 Outlet has many items at different price ranges. There is a variety of Oil 150, OC&T and ORA items ranging from clothing to key chains, to books and and various items for the whole family to enjoy.
Souvenir books will be available Monday at the outlet store, the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce and the alumni office.
The public is encouraged to enjoy all the events planned for the Titusville Oil 150 week, most of which come without a price tag. Appreciation goes out to many sponsors, clubs, organizations, corporate and family foundations.
